Step-By-Step Guide to Rust Removal

To get started, be sure your tools are entirely dry. Once you are sure they are moisture-free, apply your choice of cutting fluid to the surface area containing the rust. Allow this to set in for 15 to 20 minutes.

Attach the nylon cup brush to your electric drill, and be sure the brush is embedded with 240 grit aluminum oxide abrasive.

Set your drill low, around 500 rpm, and use a back and forth motion against the rusted surface to promote material removal. Do not use excessive pressure, as it might damage the surface integrity of your tool.

Once your rust is buffed off, use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to wipe away the debris and dust. Although optional, finish the process by polishing your newly-restored tool!
